DTF film
Stands for Direct-to-Film transfer film, and it’s a key material used in the DTF printing process for decorating garments.
DTF film is a special coated plastic sheet (usually PET film) that you print your design onto using DTF inks. The coating helps the ink sit on top of the film instead of soaking in.
Types of DTF film
- Hot Peel – peel immediately after pressing (faster production)
- Cold Peel – let it cool before peeling (often smoother finish)
- Warm Peel – in-between option
- Matte vs Glossy – matte is most common for better ink control
Why people use DTF film
- Works on cotton, polyester, blends, and more
- No need for pretreatment (unlike DTG)
- Great for full-color prints, gradients, small details
- Can be used for gang sheets (multiple designs on one film)
